Independent Public School - South Metropolitan Education Region Leda Education Support Centre Teacher - Education Support Pool Ref IPS/TCH898232 Teacher, $78,397 - $113,568 per annum (SEA GA 2021) Advertised Vacancy Number: IPS/TCH898232 Appointment Pool Leda Education Support Centre (ESC) is seeking to establish a pool of Education Support Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2025. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year, up to the end of Term 1, 2025. We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated and energetic Education Support teachers who are seeking to join a highly collaborative and dedicated team of educators who have the shared school vision of "Every Child, Every Opportunity". Experience in delivering evidence-based programs to enhance student outcomes is highly desirable. Ideally you will have a deep knowledge of effective teaching and learning strategies suitable for students with a range of disabilities, including Intellectual Disability, multiple physical disabilities and high needs Autism Spectrum Disorder. Suitable applicants will ideally focus on the development of the whole child as our aim is to support our students to develop their resilience and confidence to tackle challenges in a positive manner. Leda ESC staff support each individual child to not only achieve their educational goals but to thrive socially and emotionally. At Leda ESC, we support students using Positive Behaviour Support, De-escalation and Positive Handling principles and the Zones of Regulation, so a deep and practical demonstration of how this is embedded in your practice is desirable. Teachers will ideally have the ability to look beyond behaviour to the deeper reasons and function of the behaviour and utilise "out of the box thinking" when planning supportive strategies. Our pastoral care programs include a School Chaplain, Girls club and Boy's club that aim to provide opportunities for positive student wellbeing. Highly developed classroom management skills are crucial to create the safe and caring environments required for optimal learning to take place, as is the use of collaborative planning to support targeted and sustainable behaviour interventions. Applicants will ideally be genuine innovators that are prepared to be flexible, adaptive, engaging and highly reflective educators. Our school priorities of Communication, Positive Behaviour Support, Literacy, Mathematics and Protective Behaviours are at the forefront of our educational plans and the ability to integrate these priorities across the learning areas is also beneficial. A working knowledge of the WA Curriculum, Ability Based Learning Education Western Australia (ABLEWA), Letters and Sounds; Talk4Writing, National Quality Standard (NQS) and the Sandwell Assessment is advantageous. Understanding how to support students using AAC, including Pragmatic Organisation Dynamic Display (PODD) and other communication devices for students with complex communication needs is also highly beneficial. Experience in leading classroom teams, managing Education Assistants, the use of Reporting to Parents and the how to create Individual Education Plans is ideal. Proficiency in the use of assessment to identify ability, interests, progress and areas for development is highly regarded as is the demonstrated ability to develop plans / programs aligned with identified individualised student outcomes. The successful applicant will ideally possess outstanding communication skills and demonstrate strong leadership within the classroom and wider community. Suitable applicants will demonstrate competency in developing scaffolded and differentiated curriculum, non-standard assessment tools and special education needs (SEN) reporting. Whole school assessment is completed each semester using both standardised and teacher judgement-based assessments. You should be able to use a range of assessment and reporting methods that show student achievement in relation to learning outcomes and the ability to plan purposeful, relevant and authentic learning experiences that cater for different student learning needs. Our staff are expected to demonstrate a preparedness to collaborate with and support other colleagues in the development and implementation of the school's curriculum. This includes ensuring access to the curriculum for all students, inclusive of their individual needs. Staff commitment to implementing whole-school curriculum policies and programs in English, Maths and Health & Wellbeing needs to be evident. Leda ESC shares a site with Leda Primary School and integrates students into the mainstream environment where possible. A positive working relationship with mainstream is key to the success of integration opportunities, so experiences in building and maintaining professional relationships is ideal. The school was opened in 1992 and became an Independent Public School in 2015. Our school population lives in the south western corridor filtering into Baldivis, Our underlying philosophy supports the development of positive partnerships with parents and external agencies to ensure optimum outcomes for all students. Vacancies may arise during the life of this pool that require specialist qualifications (for example vacancies within Early Childhood Education).
