Our client is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel specialising in Energy Trading and Compliance to join their dynamic legal team. This pivotal role involves providing expert legal advice on energy trading activities, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting the company’s strategic initiatives. The successful candidate will work closely with various stakeholders to navigate complex legal landscapes and contribute to the mission of delivering sustainable energy solutions. Key Responsibilities Provide legal advice on energy trading activities, including market regulations and compliance requirements. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal energy trading laws and regulations. Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements related to energy trading. Monitor and analyse regulatory changes affecting energy trading and provide proactive advice. Develop and implement compliance programmes and policies. Conduct internal audits and compliance assessments. Liaise with regulatory bodies, industry groups, and external legal counsel. Support dispute resolution and manage litigation related to energy trading issues. Provide training and guidance to internal teams on compliance matters. Collaborate with risk management and business units to ensure alignment with legal and regulatory standards.
