This is a wonderful opportunity for an energetic teacher with a passion for providing an inclusive and innovative music educational experience for all students. The successful applicant will ideally have a thorough knowledge of the WA curriculum in music and a strong background in Orff-Schulwerk pedagogy. They should be student focused and have the expertise to facilitate music lessons that are evidence-based, developmental and well sequenced (such as Kodaly or Orff). As part of this role, you will teach classroom music Pre-Primary to Year 6, lead existing ensembles including the Junior Choir, Senior Choir and Concert Band and coordinate the Instrumental Music Schools Services (IMSS) instrumental program (including student testing and student selection). Prior Experience in providing support to staff to facilitate school assembly items and plan and lead school-based performances that provide opportunities for instrumental students to showcase their skills would be seen as advantageous. The music program at West Leeming Primary School is highly regarded and has established a long and vibrant history of music making and performance within the school community. The successful applicant will need to be able to prepare our School Choir for performances such as the Massed Choir and the WAGSMS (WA Government Schools Music Society) concerts. The Music Specialist should be able to liaise with Music Departments in the local high schools for successful student transition. As the Music Teacher at West Leeming, a high level of interpersonal skills and the demonstrated ability to foster positive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders including students, staff, IMSS teachers and parents would be seen as advantageous. Expertise in teaching and leading the singing of the national anthem (in both English and Noongar) and the ability to learn our school song and national anthem in AUSLAN would also be highly regarded.
