Technical Designer — Braeside, Kingston Area

McKinna Group are seeking a highly motivated and driven designer with project management experience to join our expanding technical team. THE OPPORTUNITY We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Designer to join our ever-growing Technical team. You will be collaborating with an experienced team of Technical Designers, as well as the Commercial Sales team, to design and deliver projects within given time frames. Projects are varied in product and scale which will allow your technical expertise and understanding of manufacturing processes to shine. On the job training is provided within software suites and technical programs. ABOUT YOU You are a team player with a highly detail approach to design. You can plan and execute tasks independently within a set time frame. You have the ability to handle multiple projects at a time in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. A positive attitude, a keen eye for detail and previous experience within the construction and manufacturing industries are essential. SolidWorks experience is a must. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Conceptualise, develop and detail products across a variety of industries and projects • Generating shop drawings and technical documentation including installation drawings • Collaborating with team members, management, clients and suppliers • Deliver projects on time and within budget. • Provide regular updates on projects to key stakeholders YOU WILL HAVE • 5 years experience in a design or engineering role (Industrial Designer, Product Designer/Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Draftsman) • Proficiency in the use of SolidWorks for both conceptual and technical documents. Keyshot and DriveWorks will be a bonus • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills • Competent design for manufacturability - best efficiencies and practices • Great project management, time management and organisational skills • Problem solving abilities including the ability to resolve problems through creative thinking • High attention to detail and revision control • Proficiency in interpreting technical, architectural and shop drawings • Excellent sheetmetal knowledge • Ability to get hands on to ensure design functionality SPECIFICS • Full time position located in Braeside • Salary negotiable dependant on experience • This position will require the successful applicant to be onsite.
