Our Rare Earths deposit in Mt Weld, Western Australia, is acknowledged as one of the highest-grade Rare Earths mine in the world and we operate the world’s largest single Rare Earths processing plant in Malaysia – so you are joining a unique team As a team member you will be contributing to the sustainable supply of rare earths metals which are used in oil & gas, electric vehicles, and wind turbines. Lynas is embarking on an expansion in Western Australia, and we have an opportunity for an experienced Mechanical and/or Piping Engineer wanting to join us on our journey. Lynas recently announced an approximately $550M project to expand the capacity at the Mt Weld mine and concentration plant to meet accelerating market demand for rare earth minerals. In these challenging and rewarding positions, you will be ensuring that the contractors' work is completed safely, on time, and within budget. The Role: We are looking for an experienced Project Engineer (Specifically Mechanical and Piping skills and knowledge) to join us on the Mt Weld Expansion Project. Reporting to the Project Manager you will be responsible for working in collaboration with the Site Integrated Management Team. This 12 months minimum fixed term position will be site based (FIFO ex Perth) and you will be required to work in accordance with either 14:7 or an 8:6 dayshift roster to be negotiated. Tasks & Responsibilities: Primarily focused on Contractor Supervision and interfaces with Engineering, Operations and Maintenance Progressively Manage Contractor performance, schedule, and compliance Ensure works performed by IMT and Contractors are conducted safely in accordance with the HSE and Construction Management Plans and Procedures. Technical expertise and interpretation of design intent Develop/review contractor work method statements, works procedures, and ITP’s for specific works. Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans. Provide support to Contractors managing Progress Claims, Approvals, QA/QC, safety and quality documents, completions, and commissioning permits and reporting. Track project milestones and deliverables Provide IMT support for Quality, Schedule & Cost What we are looking for: Engineering degree, and membership to a professional association (preferred). Previous experience on construction sites within Australia or for Australian Engineering or Construction firms. Client-side project engineering / project management of site project execution, commissioning and operational handover, comfortable working with trades and professionals alike. Management of project quality, including frequent inspections. Have a methodical and organised approach to work. Highly developed interpersonal skills for interacting with stakeholders, contractors and team members Experience working in construction and remediation of minerals processing, raw materials handling facilities is preferred but not mandatory. High level of dedication, creating a proactive, productive culture Able to work independently, driven towards completing the functional and performance requirements of establishing a Minerals Processing Facility. Ability to prioritize and deliver project outcomes to timelines and under pressure. Computer literacy with respect to skill in MS Projects, Completions Systems, Excel, Word & PowerPoint, and Computerised Document Management Systems Benefits Mt Weld Project for Stage 1 and 2 will require a minimum 12 months contract a remuneration package relevant and commensurate with the market and projects.
