About the RoleAs a Senior member of the Engineering team, you will play a crucial role in assisting to lead the development and optimisation of heavy haulage trailers from concept through production and delivery to achieve the company’s productivity and customer service goals. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, management, and workshop staff, you will create solutions that meet the highest standards of functionality, performance, and aesthetics.Responsibilities: Leadership, coaching and mentoring to direct and indirect reports. Develop concept sketches, 3D models, and detailed fabrication drawings using Solidworks and other design tools. Work closely with management and leading hands to understand project requirements and design objectives. Refine and develop existing designs and assist with the expansion of new product lines. Perform engineering calculations and simulations to validate designs and ensure their feasibility and performance. Generate and maintain detailed documentation, including design specifications, BOMs, and technical reports. Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in design engineering. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance design processes, efficiency, and quality. Enter and maintain records on ROVER. Work with external suppliers to ensure all project requirements are met. About YouThe ideal candidate will be a highly skilled and experienced mechanical engineer with a passion for design and innovation in the manufacturing industry with broad, hands-on experience in product development, from concept to production. This autonomous, hands-on role requires someone who can effectively manage change and thrive in a small, busy team environment. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Reliable and resilient disciplined individual who has a ‘can do’ solutions-based client approach and an unwavering commercial focus. Demonstrated ability to develop technical specifications and engineering designs and drawings (preferably Solidworks, and Draftsight or AutoCad) Proficiency in guiding a product through every stage from initial concept to final production. Strong understanding of engineering principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes. Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality design deliverables. Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise tasks. Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
