Engineering Workforce Capability Manager Let your expertise guide your team to success Hybrid working options available Shape the future trajectory of engineering at Babcock As the Engineering Workforce Capability Manager, you are at the forefront of shaping the future of our engineering workforce at Babcock. Collaborating closely with Domain Engineering Managers for strategic insights and Program Engineering Managers for tactical inputs, you play a pivotal role in determining the required engineering capability and capacity to meet our current and future business needs. In partnership with the People and Safety Function, you will lead the strategic and tactical development of our engineering workforce, ensuring alignment with the evolving demands of our business. Your expertise guides us in cultivating a dynamic and skilled engineering team capable of driving innovation and excellence. Additionally, you interface with the Head of Engineering Capability to ensure consistency of approach and reporting across our global business, reinforcing our commitment to maintaining a cohesive and effective engineering function worldwide. You will be instrumental in shaping the future trajectory of engineering endeavours, driving towards continued success and growth. Key responsibilities will include: Lead engineering capability development, by applying technical judgement from experience as part of decision making and recommendation to Develop and manage the Engineering Career Development framework(s) Develop and manage engineering skills development and training programmes. Support mentoring and career development for the engineering workforce Responsible for engineering leadership and management of the Early Careers Program(s). Support the definition, implementation, and use of a workforce planning strategy to meet current and future capability engineering demands. Apply knowledge to produce, review and approve capability documentation and solutions in support of assigned task (in accordance with applicable DoA). Lead initiatives to ensure accurate and appropriate capability records being securely developed and maintained in the appropriate data management system across the Australasian Business. Support engineering capability development through mapping of the capability framework and workforce planning strategy to support strategic capability development/recruitment (make/buy) planning. Lead capability information presentation and discussion (including formal reviews) with customers (internal and external). Responsible for the development and upkeep of engineering capability management documentation within the Engineering Management System (EMS) Review and approval of business development artifacts to facilitate the development of successful bids and development of engineering capability (in accordance with applicable DoA). Provide excellent engineering advice in area of technical or operational expertise & experience to the wider Babcock as necessary to maximise knowledge transfer and build operational capability. Expected to make engineering capability decisions throughout the lifecycle of the program/product. Have an excellent understanding of the design, analysis, manufacturing, and support techniques associated with their discipline and have a good awareness of techniques and technologies that may interface with products and own discipline. About you You are a seasoned professional with approximately 10 years of relevant experience in technical and engineering roles. You bring experience in managing engineering functions and delivering technical projects, demonstrating your ability to lead and deliver results. Your expertise extends to a comprehensive understanding of applicable engineering toolsets, enabling you to navigate complex technical challenges with ease. You thrive in collaborative environments, working effectively as part of cross-functional teams to achieve common goals. Communication comes naturally to you, allowing you to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization, both internally and externally. Your preference for versatility is evident, as you possess experience across various engineering domains and phases of the engineering lifecycle. You hold an accredited (under the Washington Accord) bachelor's degree in engineering or possess recognized engineering qualifications, making you eligible for Professional Engineer category Membership through a recognized body. Additionally, you have pursued further training in engineering, technical, or management specialisms, demonstrating your commitment to continuous learning and development.
