Disability Support Workers - Casual positions available in Hobart — Hobart, Hobart Region

We are looking for empathetic and experienced Disability Support Workers who are passionate about supporting others to achieve their life goals and can help our clients to thrive. This role involves providing active support for our clients within their home or out in the community to develop independence and friendships. This includes supporting and encouraging our client to participate in a range of day-to-day activities based on their hobbies, interests and goals set within their NDIS support plan. While performing the duties of this role, you will be respectful of their culture, privacy and dignity. Candidates with previous disability experience will be highly regarded. We will provide buddy shifts and training to successful candidates to both broaden their skillset and ensure that we are offering the broadest range of best practice personal care for our clients. Shifts will involve personal care, capacity building through hobbies and skills development, domestic responsibilities and community access. We are especially looking for candidates who have experience working with clients with behaviours of concern, and that are able to do sleepovers and active nights. Skills and experience required to be successful in this role: Must be willing to do a variety of shifts and travel to New Norfolk, Moonah or Kingston Medication endorsement Experience with all aspects of personal care Manual handling endorsement Experience with Dysphasia and clients who are non-verbal (desirable) Experience with Peg Feeding (desirable) Experience working with clients who have behaviours of concern, and understanding / implementing Behaviour Support Plans Experience working in the Disability or Aged Care sector Intermediate computer skills (ie: using Microsoft Outlook, documentation in a client management tool/CRM) Tasmanian Driver’s Licence (International licence and/or learners licence will not be considered) International Police Check if you have lived or worked overseas for more than one year within the last ten years Working with Vulnerable People card with NDIS endorsement Right to work in Australia NDIS Worker Orientation Module Training Certificate Current First Aid & CPR / willingness to obtain Highly regarded and desirable: A relevant qualification in Disability, Aged Care, Individual Support, Allied Health, Mental Health or working towards it Experience using Carelink or a similar client management tool.
