The role: A rare opportunity to join a growing Life Insurer and shape the strategy for a collaborative and experienced team. Reporting into the General Counsel you will lead the Legal team (8-10) reports in providing legal advice and support to the business. We're a flat structured organisation, where you can get exposure to different projects, as well as BAU. Responsibilities: Provide insightful legal analysis and commercially astute advice on life insurance and general corporate matters. Assist and support the General Counsel with team management matters and resourcing, developing legal strategy and objectives, identifying and managing legal risk, and fostering external legal relationships. Work closely with business stakeholders on significant projects and transactions, including drafting complex contracts, managing regulatory matters, and facilitating change of shareholder events. Offer guidance to stakeholders internally on product development, breach reporting, claims management, and regulatory compliance, among other areas. Provide advice on financial services regulatory reform and oversee its implementation within the Legal function. Communicate effectively with stakeholders across the organization and escalate issues to the General Counsel when necessary. Develop and empower team members to deliver sound commercial legal advice and provide leadership to senior and junior lawyers. Mentor and support cross-skilling initiatives within the team, and guiding the development of a broad legal skillset for both senior and junior lawyers. Requirements: Demonstrated leadership skills with a track record of building and leading high-performing, inclusive teams. 10 years of experience in the financial services industry, including in-house experience within a financial services organization. Strong understanding of the regulatory framework relevant to life insurance, financial advice, and superannuation, including emerging legal and regulatory requirements such as the Corporations Act, Life Insurance Act, Insurance Contracts Act, and Privacy Act. Proficiency in navigating current regulatory reforms impacting areas of key responsibility. Why ClearView?
