Legal Officer — Deakin, South Canberra

The Royal Australian Mint's Legal Services section is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic lawyer with a minimum of 2 years' relevant post-admission legal experience to advise on a range of legal matters. The Legal Officer will be expected to use strong technical legal skills and excellent communication abilities to provide high quality legal advice and assistance on a range of corporate governance, government, and commercial legal matters. Reporting to the Senior Legal Officer, the Legal Officer will be expected to work with limited direction and a reasonable level of autonomy and accountability, providing accurate, practical, and timely legal services. The successful applicant is required to work full-time and on-site. The key duties of the position include Providing advice on a range of legal issues including commercial law, contracts, procurement, employment law, administrative law, and intellectual property. Drafting a range of contracts, with a focus on IP and licensing agreements. Supporting the development and maintenance of the Mint's commercial law related precedents. Building positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders including other Australian government agencies and external legal service providers. Ensuring compliance with the Legal Services Directions 2017. Supporting the Senior Legal Officer on a wide range of legal matters.
