This role will create meaningful client relationships, shaping not only the futures of others but also your own and ensure Aboriginal cultures and languages are supported. This includes: Specialist training opportunities Buddy shifts with CPA's experienced Disability Support Workers Opportunity to complete a nationally recognised qualification such as Certificate III in Individual Support and/or a Certificate IV in Disability We invest $5,000 in training in your first year Duties will include: Building and supporting cultural journeys for Aboriginal clients through community activities to ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people enjoy high levels of social and emotional wellbeing Delivering personalised support in a group home setting by assisting clients at mealtimes, personal care, administrating medication and manual handling Identification of culturally safe activities in the group home such as musical therapy inclusive of the didgeridoo and clap sticks, or storytime and art Ensuring clients have access to information to make their own choices and build skills to be more independent Transporting clients, using CPA minivan, if applicable Requirements Knowledge and genuine commitment to helping clients to maintain a distinctive cultural, spiritual and physical relationship with their land and waters Awareness of Closing the Gap Targets and Outcomes is beneficial to the role but not essential Ability to navigate complex and diverse client family dynamics A current NSW Driver's Licence (P2 minimum) is preferred Live locally to Awabakal land Knowledge, understanding and sensitivity towards the social and cultural needs of Aboriginal people and their families.
