Using remotely operated, novel underground mining (UGM) technology to extract key critical minerals. The technology we have developed enables access to ore bodies previously thought to be uneconomic - in future, we hope it brings potential to unlock other deep deposits of critical minerals, including those nearby to the Balranald project. About the Location Iluka's Balranald operation is located approximately two hours by road from Mildura in regional NSW. You can choose to live in the local region, drive-in drive-out from towns outside the regional area or fly-in, fly-out from Melbourne or Adelaide. About the Role Reporting to the Technical Services Manager the Senior Mining Engineer is accountable for the delivery of site based Technical Services. This role provides oversight of the Surface Mining Operations as well as technical and operational input into the Underground Mining Operations. The role is a site-based 8:6 position functioning in part, as a back-to-back to the Technical Services Manager, and actively supporting the Extraction Manager which requires an individual who demonstrates an elevated level of autonomy, critical thinking, and decision-making ability. As the Senior Mining Engineer, you will set and deliver the operational direction of the mine planning support services at West Balranald. It will have a significant focus on technical aspects of the new mining method and systemising the deployment of the unmanned underground mining technology. Your accountabilities will include: Plan, optimise and systemise monitoring of mineral extraction operations Manage surface mining operations contingent with contracts and industry best practice Ensure systems of control are maintained and effectively managed for the underground mining such that value is realised, through stope recovery and grade Ensure the development of short, medium and long-term mining schedules to meet agreed budget targets and amend where necessary Identify areas requiring additional geological, mining, survey, geotechnical information, and schedule works Management of appropriate optimisation processes in conjunction with business requirements Ensure system of EOM reconciliation process is followed and effectively managed, with improvements implemented as necessary Manage the modelling, forecast of all tailings, and underground injection works About You Tertiary degree in mining, oil & gas or construction related discipline NSW recognised Quarry Manger Certificate or ability to obtain a similar qualification Demonstrated experience in engineering and supervisory roles in major resources setting Significant exposure to geotechnical aspects of technical planning and operations Experience leading technical teams and contractors Strong skills using mining software such as Deswik Self-motivated and high level of attention to detail Our Offer to You Family friendly roster - DIDO from towns outside the regional area or FIFO from Melbourne or Adelaide Great camp facilities Be supported through an inclusive and collaborative culture Up to 18 Weeks Paid Parental Leave Ability to Purchase Additional Annual Leave Competitive Salary and Bonus Structures Company share matching scheme We are committed to upholding our Business Values, supporting equal opportunities, gender equality and cultural diversity.
