The Moreton Bay College is seeking a suitably qualified Teacher Aide and Technician - Technologies to join the team. Moreton Bay College was established in 1901 as a school for girls from P-12 and now supports an enrolment in excess of 1100 students. THE POSITION The College is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Teacher Aide and Technician to support the Technologies Learning Area. This is a resource-based position and works closely with the Head of Department – Technologies. This is a part-time, permanent, term time plus two weeks contract to commence 8 July 2024. All staff are appointed by the CEO and Executive Principal of MBC and MBBC and they are responsible to him for the over-all performance of their duties. The CEO and Executive Principal delegates his authority to senior staff members for the effective management of the College. This role will report directly to the Head of Department – Technologies. The College offers a very broad program in sporting, musical, performance and pastoral activities. Staff are expected, therefore, to participate in the co-curricular program and pastoral life of the College. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES It is expected that the Teacher Aide and Technician - Technologies will assist the relevant Head of Department in: Assist teachers/staff in technology learning spaces including classrooms, kitchens, studios and on excursions Order and prepare equipment, materials and resources for classes as required Track the progress of ordered equipment, materials and resources Take delivery, checking and storing equipment, materials and resources using accepted stock rotation processes Organise and maintain storerooms under the direction of the HOD. Ensure all classrooms are tidy including regular cleaning of spaces and equipment Support teachers in assisting students in the use of equipment, materials and resources they have access to during classes Undertake adjustment of equipment and machinery as required Operate required equipment/machinery during and between classes Support teachers in assisting students when required to create / realise designs using relevant programs and/or equipment Photograph student work and store appropriately for use in exhibitions and other events when required Set-up and dismantling for College exhibitions and activities as required. Attend excursions as required Undergo safety training as required to ensure compliance with workplace health and safety guidelines Maintain Personal Protection Equipment as required Maintenance of machinery, equipment, and resources Ensure a comprehensive maintenance schedule for all equipment, machines and tools including: Check on a routine basis that all machines/equipment/resources are in a safe working order Regular servicing items of machinery/equipment/resources in need of scheduled service Adjust machines and equipment to ensure good operation Source contractors to undertake specialised repairs and maintenance for equipment Liaise with IT Services to in relation software/ wifi requirements of machinery/equipment as required Maintaining Technologies workspaces Removal and proper disposal of waste materials Return hand tools, power tools and safety equipment to designated areas Clean down machinery, equipment and resources as required Empty portable and fixed dust extraction units on a regular or needs basis Ensure all equipment is cleaned, functional and prepared for use Keep the floors swept and free from hazardous materials NB: Equipment/ Machinery/ resources include but are not limited to sewing machines, overlockers, laser cutters, 3D printers, moulding machines, shredders, power tools, hand tools, kitchen and hospitality equipment, soldering equipment. SKILLS AND ABILITIES The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Commitment to his/her work and to the achievement of excellence. Ability to demonstrate IT competency (word, excel, powerpoint experience, adobe suite). Experience with and/or willingness to learn about Laser cutting software and how to operate and maintain laser cutters, 3D printers, Cricut products, sewing machines and overlockers is preferable Experience in maintaining a safe workshop area using current Workplace Health and Safety Guidelines is preferable. Efficient and effective time management skills. Actively contribute to a safety citizenship culture upholding health and safety policies, procedures, hazard reporting and safe work practices. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Certificate III or IV in Education or similar would be desirable. Experience in similar role CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Working with Children Suitability Card is essential CONDITIONS AND SALARY Hours of Duty: 17 hours per week, with flexibility of changed hours for productions and events This position is classified as a School Officer Level 3, ranging from Step 1 $29,267.54 to Step 4 $31,985.81 for a 0.64 FTE Salary and conditions are in keeping with the Moreton Bay College Enterprise Agreement.
