As the Lead Engineer - Battery Storage in the Renewables Engineering team, you'll be at the forefront of this renewable energy revolution and be responsible for leading engineers to support grid scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) portfolio. Currently AGL have four grid scale batteries in the portfolio ranging from 30MW capacity up to 250MW. The battery portfolio is rapidly expanding and is vital to AGL achieving its target of 5 GW of new renewables and firming capacity by 2030. You will be providing leading a small team through discipline-based asset management to ensure asset risks are identified and effectively managed, compliance with statutory and regulatory obligations, and the upkeep of asset plans to maximise BESS performance from cradle to grave. You will also provide input into design reviews and operational readiness activities as new BESS assets are brought online. What you'll be doing: Developing and maintaining Renewables Asset Management Plans aligned with Asset Management Strategies and the requirements of the business procedures in accordance with ISO 55000. Reviewing asset risks and implementing effective risk management plans with control measures to mitigate risks and ensuring compliance with AGL Asset Management Standards and systems are proactively maintained. Sponsoring and conducting asset related investigations including formal Root Cause Analysis investigations and acting as a point of reference and technical approving authority for managing changes in assets. Proactively undertaking asset related reviews and testing to ensure compliance with licence obligations as well as providing input into design reviews and operational readiness activities for new BESS assets. Maintaining effective working relationships with Regulatory Agencies by responding in a timely manner to issues with the National Electricity Market (NEM). Developing and coaching a small team to ensure core competencies in BESS are developed and maintained and leading the way in embedding and delivering to the renewable's leadership team strategy and expectations. Ensuring that all Health, Safety and Environment Systems and goals are communicated and adhered to while meeting AGL's policies and standards for HSE management. What you'll bring: Tertiary qualifications preferably in Electrical Engineering as well as a Chartered Professional Engineer with previous experience in grid scale battery operation, commissioning or design and an understanding of the NEM and current regulatory environment preferred. A strong understanding of asset management principles supported by a qualification in ISO55001 is highly desired coupled with both financial and risk management. Experience in effective team leadership including, management skills, coaching, mentoring and strong technical leadership. Strong commercial acumen, business planning, change management and process improvement skills as well as analytical and conceptual skills for the effective delivery of projects and contract management. Proven interpersonal skills with high quality written and verbal communication skills that can be used across all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
