About the Role: The Business Intelligence Data Engineer supports Victoria University's ongoing transformation into a strategy-led, data-driven organisation. The role will be responsible for data warehousing, data engineering, data extraction, data processing and automation, data security and access. The role will be required to support the creation of data assets that enable analysis and reporting that inform internal and external stakeholders across the University. The role will also work collaboratively with the Senior Business Intelligence Data Engineers and stakeholders within the University to delivering data engineering solutions that enable strategic objectives. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Development and maintenance of VU's analytics environments, data subject areas and dashboard reports in VU's Oracle Analytics and Big Data Hub platforms; Create and update technical specification diagrams, functionality and process documentation; Manage the design, development, implementation and maintenance of data warehouse/business intelligence (DW/BI) data models and structures. Keep on-premises and Cloud-based hardware, software, platforms and information updated and secure. Work with the Senior Business Intelligence Data Engineers to optimise data models, automations, and technology solutions that align with the Data Strategy, Data Governance and Data Standards. Collaborate with stakeholders, suppliers and contractors to collectively improve VU's data assets, analytics capabilities, data visualisation and reporting. Work across entire project lifecycles, including development, test management/testing, UAT and training. This is a part-time position at a HEP 8, $106,346 - $119,760 (pro-rata) classification working 22.05 hours per week (0.6 FTE) over a continuing contract period. About the person The successful candidate will have expertise in sourcing, ingesting, validating, analysing, joining and interpreting internal and external data sources to create the data assets that are used for insightful reports to inform VU's strategic business and academic decision-makers. Having worked in a similar role in a complex organisation, you will have a proven track record of undertaking modelling, statistical analysis and reporting, using a variety of tools that best match the task. You will possess: Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing, and operating data structures for analytics and data science. Excellent communication, relationship management and teamwork skills, able to demonstrate ability to problem-solve. Experience in working with cloud-based data platforms and data warehouse solutions including knowledge relating to the development, implementation, and maintenance of the domain. Proven high levels of proficiency in SQL analysis and data visualization tools.
