The purpose of this position is to assist Council's Principal Strategic Infrastructure Planner with the development, implementation and delivery of long-term traffic and transport infrastructure planning strategies, policies and forward works programs, having regard to relevant statutory, policy and financial provisions. Other responsibilities include coordinating and providing recommendations on transport planning matters, and the impact of proposed development traffic on the transport network, to Council's Development assessment team. This role will see you working in consultation with internal and external stakeholders using your in depth understanding of planning frameworks and ability to communicate technical concepts to a diverse audience. Your proven success in long-term project management and contract management is essential, likewise your ability to analyse, question and collaborate with consultants to achieve positive outcomes for the Council. A working knowledge of local, state, and federal legislation and experience in design and traffic modelling software are desirable. You have excellent oral and written communication skills, with a creative mindset and future thinking about traffic and transport outcomes and solutions for the region. Ideally you will have previous Local Government, consultancy or Department of Transport and Main Roads experience, and a demonstrated passion to make a difference to the community will see you being successful in this role. Bachelor in Engineering, or Engineering Technology, is essential as is extensive experience in project planning, scoping, cost estimation and design of traffic and transport infrastructure. RPEQ, or ability to obtain, is highly desirable.
