About the Centre/Service Acacia Children's Centre is a not for profit community based centre located in St Albans. We are a child safe organisation that welcomes all children to participate in our program. We are an integrated Long Day Care and Kindergarten service. We pride ourselves on our commitment to the inclusion of all children and to enhance all children's wellbeing so they can become confident and independent learners. Our innovative educational program is delivered as an indoor/outdoor program which focusses on children learning through play and inquiry-based learning. We have been awarded with an Exceeding National Standards rating in the National Quality Standards. Our team of educators are passionate and very supportive of each other including new team members Description We are seeking a passionate early childhood educator with a Bachelor of Early Childhood (or equivalent) as the 3-year Kindergarten Teacher. The successful candidate must have a commitment to high quality practice and be able to plan, implement and maintain a program which reflects our Centres educational philosophy. The candidate must also have to show an ability to provide an inclusive program, be flexible, innovative and have creative vision. An ability to demonstrate a high level of understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and National Quality Standards (NQS) is essential. The 9 months term position is for 37 hours per week but can be flexible with hours. The successful applicant will be remunerated above the conditions of the Educational Services (Teachers) Award 2010, where there will be more additional leave during term break. In addition they will be offered additional weekly planning time, extensive professional development and all other entitlements offered by Acacia. The successful candidate will work in partnership with all other kindergarten teacher across Acacia Children’s Centre’s and the leadership team at St Albans. The candidate will be positioned in the Kindergarten room and be responsible of educational program and supporting the team of educators in the educational leadership role The focus areas will be: Planning and implementing a play based program within the 3 year old kinder room Undertaking critical reflection on current curriculum implementation and documentation practices Working within a team to achieve best outcomes for children and their families Engaging in an inquiry-based project with colleagues, families and children Key Selection Criteria (A thorough position description is available upon Email request): An approved Early Childhood Teacher Degree (equivalent) Current VIT registration, anaphylaxis, asthma, first aid and CPR training Demonstrated experience working in Early Childhood services taking full responsibility for the planning, implementation and assessment of the program Demonstrated experience with leading, motivating and mentoring a team of Early Childhood professionals Thorough understanding of pedagogy, child development and curriculum, teaching, learning and assessment theories and the link they hold with the EYLF, VEYDLF and VELS Well developed interpersonal and communication skills We encourage applications from Aboriginal peoples, people from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds.
