Key Responsibilities: Lead and mentor a small team of System Administrator and DevOps Engineers. Design, implement, and refine our hosting ecosystem, leveraging Linux systems, Kubernetes, and an array of open-source solutions. Take the helm in configuring and maintaining our network infrastructure, from top-tier Cisco and Dell hardware to sophisticated firewall systems. Collaborate closely with our DevOps engineers, guiding them in the adoption of agile methodologies to synchronize infrastructure initiatives with our business goals. Manage and fine-tune MySQL and PostgreSQL databases to sustain peak performance. Support the smooth operation and deployment of Java and .NET Core applications, ensuring maximum efficiency. Oversee and maintain docker containers within our Kubernetes infrastructure, driving efficiency and scalability. Implement and manage robust security measures, including load balancers, web application firewalls, and comprehensive monitoring systems, to fortify our defenses. Partner with development teams to meet evolving infrastructure needs throughout the software development lifecycle. Troubleshoot and maintain physical hardware infrastructure, utilizing VMware vSphere, OpenStack, and leading cloud solutions such as AWS and Azure. Deploy and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Puppet, Terraform, and Ansible to streamline operations and enhance scalability. Uphold best practices in CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins and Spinnaker, ensuring seamless integration and delivery. Foster a culture of collaboration and innovation by leveraging monitoring tools like New Relic to empower our teams and enhance service reliability. 24x7x365 monitoring and support of production infrastructure and data center operations. Respond and troubleshoot Production outages 24/7 for a global SaaS platform maintaining a 99.99% uptime. Lead a small team of system administrator and DevOps engineers. Mentor the team. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience as a System Administrator, specializing in Linux, network management, and open-source environments. A minimum of 3 years of experience leading small teams. Expertise in network architecture and firewall systems, with a focus on Cisco and Dell Technologies. Proficiency in managing Kubernetes environments and supporting Java and .NET Core applications within cloud platforms like AWS and Azure. Strong background in database management (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and implementing secure and scalable cloud solutions. Experience with VMware vSphere, OpenStack, and cloud infrastructures. Sharp analytical skills coupled with the ability to troubleshoot complex system issues with ease. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, essential for leading a team and collaborating effectively across departments. Must live a commutable distance to Avetta's Newcastle Office located at 426 King Street Newcastle NSW 2302 and must be able to work a Hybrid Work Schedule of 2 days in the office (or as needed), 3 days work from home. Preferred Skills: Certifications in Linux, Cisco (CCNA, CCNP), or VMware are a plus. Prior experience in Agile/Scrum development environments.
