EL1 Senior Legal Officer Initial 6-month contract NV1 or ability to obtain Based in Canberra Our Federal Government client is seeking an EL1 Senior Legal Officer who can provide high level leadership, manage programs and contribute to the department's strategic direction. About the role: Commission, oversee and review external legal advice, consistent with the needs of the department Promote and manage relationships and key strategic alliances Deliver education, training and promoting a safe and inclusive workplace The provision of professional and timely responses to all legal and conduct issues. Provide expertise, advice and direction on all legal matters including: Employment law General administrative law Intellectual property Information access Statutory interpretation Parliamentary law Commercial law Drafting of instruments and documentation. Ideally, you will have: A tertiary legal qualification and current practising certificate (or ability to obtain one) Demonstrated ability to provide high-quality legal advice in a complex and sensitive environment with a strong focus on client service Extensive knowledge of public administration with an understanding of commercial procurement, administration, human resource and governance practices Highly developed communication skills and the ability to work collegiately with a broad range of stakeholders.
