Join a well known name and growing business in the energy sector. Sydney CBD based. Full time, permanent role. Up to $300k Role Overview Critical and pivotal senior legal role responsible for providing legal support and advise across various sectors of the network business. This includes network planning, operations, delivery, major projects and renewable energy zones, among other transmission projects. We are in search of a seasoned Senior Legal Counsel – Networks to be a significant contributor to legal, governance, and risk teams. Key Role Responsibilities You will be tasked with various network infrastructure agreements such as drafting and advising on related contracts, assisting with network and regulated matters, procurement and contract drafting, as well as providing commercial solutions to potential issues. Your endeavours will extend to major infrastructure projects where you will review and negotiate contracts, identify commercial and legal risks, work in unison with internal and external stakeholders and provide advice throughout project phases. You will also be expected to manage external legal firms when required. Provide essential legal advice and communicate it to the board, executives, and senior managers across: The National Electricity Laws and Rules Competition Law General and Commercial law and contracting Commercial Disputes Skills & Experience The role demands an exceptional leader who can drive a clear vision and strategic considerations, takes initiatives in continuous improvement, provides outstanding stakeholder services, and nurtures the capability of others. As well as the below: Admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales, ideally 10-15 years PQE Member of the Law Society of New South Wales and possession of a current Law Society Practising Certificate Experience in negotiating, drafting and advising on various network infrastructure contracts in the energy industry Sound knowledge of National Electricity Rules and Environmental Law Experience in advising on procurement arrangements Excellent legal research skills Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) to liaise, on a daily basis, with internal and external stakeholders Benefits Best flow of property and infrastructure work in Australia.
