The opportunity This is a unique opportunity, working as an In-house Legal Counsel. You will work across a variety of in-house legal workstreams, contributing to the vision and strategy of this business. At times, you may also be required to support other regions and/or work closely with the head office team. As the newest member to the legal team, you will provide legal services for the Australian operations of this business which will cover investment support, commercial negotiations, transaction management, corporate governance, dispute resolution and other general legal matters. There may be times you will engage with external legal services. Key areas of practice are: Financing Corporate M&A Corporate Governance Regulated Financial Services Foreign Investment With a varied workload, your day-to-day duties will include (however not restricted to): Provision of general in-house legal advice to team members, executives and partners Reviewing current contracts Providing legal advice on commercial transactions, including engagement, drafting, negotiations, due diligence and execution Advising on risk exposure and solutions to mitigate any risk Assisting with reporting to the Board on legal matters This position calls for an experienced commercial lawyer, keen to progress their career and move from private practice or transition into another inhouse role. In addition, key requirements of this role are as follows: 3-4 years PAE Fund or assessment management experience is desirable. Experience with private equity, mergers & acquisitions, and finance Commercial acumen Excellent communication and negotiation skills Excellent stakeholder management, with the ability to liaise with a variety of different people Exceptional organisational skills Ability to work collaboratively and play a significant role in the inhouse legal team.
