Engineering Manager — Altona, Barossa Area
Expired

About Us This is a privately-owned FMCG that has grown rapidly over the last two decades. They operate a national footprint of liquid processing facilities, mobile equipment and fleet, and have some interesting circular economy applications for their product. A familiar story for many SMEs, they have expanded faster than their systems and structures can keep up with, so they’re investing in some key new roles. About the role This is a brand new position, the company’s first Engineering Manager – you’ll be accountable for all engineering activity across the business. The primary focus will be on driving operating efficiency and consistency across multiple plants of varying age, that those facilities are configured and optimised, and putting in place a fit for purpose system for maintenance and reliability. You’ll also be responsible for capital projects managed primarily via external providers, one such example being a new site to be built interstate. This role will initially be an autonomous one which means you’ll be driving the work yourself, but in future there is opportunity to grow the team. Key to your success will be your commercial acumen, understanding and demonstrating how engineering impacts the bottom line and supports business objectives. Because the operations are in multiple states, there will be semi-regular travel required, though you will mostly have control over when and how you travel. About you We’re looking for a senior engineer who is ready for their first engineering manager role, or is early in their career as an engineering manager: Engineering degree (mechanical or chemical / process) Experience in a relevant industry and asset base (beverage, dairy, food, chemical, possibly pharmaceutical) Core engineering experience relating to driving operations performance improvement, maintenance and reliability (capital projects is ‘nice to have’ but not critical) Exposure to both large and small businesses would be highly valuable Strong commercial acumen – you know how to get value for money and generate return on investment Why apply? This is an opportunity to really own something – the degree to which you can improve this business is immense, and the role will be what you make of it. You will be highly valued here because you are bringing a unique skillset with the potential of unlocking significant upside across the value stream. The culture is friendly and approachable, without the red tape and process that slows bigger businesses down – you can ‘get things done’ here.
