Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Power System Engineer - Grid Connections to join their team. As a key member of the Grid Connections team, the Principal Power System Engineer will lead and support the development and implementation of grid connection projects, ensuring the safe and reliable integration of renewable energy sources and new technologies into the electricity grid. Key Responsibilities: Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and expertise in power system engineering, with a focus on grid connection projects and renewable energy integration initiatives. Grid Connection Studies: Conduct comprehensive grid connection studies and assessments to evaluate the impact of new generation projects and network upgrades on grid stability, reliability, and performance. Network Planning: Lead network planning activities related to grid connections, including feasibility studies, network impact assessments, and cost-benefit analyses, to support the development of effective grid connection solutions. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal teams, external stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to facilitate the timely and efficient approval and implementation of grid connection projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards. Technical Analysis: Perform advanced technical analysis and modeling of power systems, using specialized software and tools to simulate and optimize grid operations, identify potential risks and vulnerabilities, and develop strategies to address emerging challenges. Project Management: Lead and manage grid connection projects from inception to completion, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, managing budgets and timelines, and ensuring successful delivery of project outcomes. Risk Management: Identify and assess risks associated with grid connection projects, developing risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to minimize project delays and disruptions. Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the Grid Connections team, identifying opportunities to optimize processes, enhance efficiency, and streamline workflows to deliver better outcomes for our client and its stakeholders. Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. Extensive experience in power system engineering, with a focus on grid connections, renewable energy integration, and network planning. Strong technical expertise in power system analysis tools and software, such as PSS/E, PowerFactory, or PSSE. Demonstrated leadership skills, with experience in leading technical teams and managing complex projects in the energy industry. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively to diverse audiences. Knowledge of energy market regulations and standards, with a solid understanding of grid connection requirements and industry best practices. Professional certifications or memberships in relevant engineering associations (e.g., IEEE, CIGRE) preferred.
