About the Centre/Service Friend Street Kindergarten has been welcoming children, families and staff since 1952 and has built a strong sense of community and belonging. Our families contribute to the kindergarten through volunteering to participate in the program, on the active volunteer committee of management and arranging social functions. Children develop a love of learning from the beginning of their educational journey with our programs providing the opportunity to develop attributes and skills which families value most in their children –happiness, confidence, consideration for others, independence, open-mindedness, creativity, engagement and connection to the community and environment. Friend Street Kindergarten is a sessional kindergarten offering a quality play-based learning program for 3 and 4 year olds run by qualified, highly experienced and dedicated teachers and educators. Natural play spaces such as the dry creek bed, gardens, mud kitchen and sandpit encourage interactions not only with friends but with natural elements and animals such as insects and bird life promoting discussion and learning about sustainability. Specialist Music, P.E. and Yoga sessions also build the children’s physical, emotional and social skills.
