Primary French and Spanish Teacher (K-Yr4) — Innaloo, Stirling Area

The International School of Western Australia (ISWA) is an IB World School offering the Primary Years Programme (PYP). ISWA is seeking a passionate and dedicated French and Spanish Language Teacher Specialist to join our team on a part-time basis (0.648 FTE). As the specialist, you will lead the teaching of French and Spanish languages for students from Kindergarten to Grade 4. Specifically, Kindergarten to Year 2 French and Year 3 to 4 Spanish. Through concept-based inquiry, this teacher will design and deliver engaging, age-appropriate French and Spanish lessons aligned with the IB PYP framework to deepen students' conceptual understanding and foster international-mindedness. The position requires a fully qualified Primary Language Teacher for a one year, fixed-term, part-time contract commencing at the start of our next academic year 24/07/2024 - 12/06/2025. We are looking for a staff member who possess: • A record of innovative practice • An ability to inspire mixed culture and ability classes, by creating challenging and engaging learning opportunities for all students • A strong desire and proven ability to work in teams in and out of the classroom • An outstanding record in building relationships and community with students, parents, and staff • Experience in delivering a concept-based curriculum through inquiry learning. • An intentional ability to balance academic and social-emotional development and wellbeing • Value diversity and belonging and seek to create a classroom environment where all students feel included • Curious, open-minded, and willing to change their own thinking and practice Requirements: • Bachelor's degree in Education or relevant field. • Proficiency in both French and Spanish languages. • Experience teaching languages in an IB or inquiry-based setting preferred. • Strong understanding of the IB PYP philosophy and framework. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and engage with the school community. Experience working in international schools and/or delivering the International Baccalaureate’s, Primary Years Programme (PYP) would be highly desirable, but not essential.
