The key duties of the position include The Role As an ICT Systems Administrator you will be required to: Be accountable for installing, removing hardware and software using the supplied installation instructions and tools. Perform routine installations and de-installations of hardware and software according to Defence and organisation policy and procedures. Acquire and apply knowledge of Defence and industry accepted hardware and software products relevant to systems administration, current system functionality and Defence's business domain. Use experience to identify operation problems and contribute to their resolution in accordance with agreed standards and procedures. Work collaboratively with the team and contribute to solutions and goals of a non-routine or contingency nature. Engage with relevant stakeholders to develop understanding of their expectations and concerns and respond accordingly. Solve a defined range of unpredictable problems following established operating policies and procedures. Provide advice and specialist guidance to colleagues to ensure best use is made of available assets and to maintain or improve the installation service. About our Team The Defence School of Intelligence (DSI) is located at Kokoda Barracks, Canungra, QLD and is the centre of excellence for intelligence and specialist training to meet the capability for whole of Defence. The APS5 Systems Administrator is a key team member within the DSI Information Systems Support cell. This team consists of a mix of military and APS members, consistently delivers a high standard of outputs and each role within the team contributes to supporting the delivery of capability. Our Ideal Candidate The successful applicant is to be a highly motivated and organised individual able to work autonomously and as part of a team to provide IT support within specified timeframes. The incumbent will co-ordinate building, issuing and returning of devices to courses, update and maintain asset management systems, provide support to Staff and learners at the school. The System Administrator will also support to two standalone networks operated at the school, as well as provide initial and basic troubleshooting for CIOG networks. Our ideal candidate will require a high level of communication skills as liaison occurs with internal and external stakeholders to ensure competing priorities are met. Flexibility and adaptability are crucial within the progressive Intelligence training environment.
