System Administrator — Canberra Region, Australian Capital Territory

A great opportunity has become available for an experienced System Administrator to join the Digital Systems team at Garden Island in Sydney. The role: Support systems, software, hardware and interfaces Identify, investigate and resolve incidents and problems with system software, hardware and interfaces, and take remedial action where necessary Assist with the creation and maintenance of configuration documentation Tailor and customise system software, system hardware and interfaces to meet user requirements Monitor and optimize performance of systems Provide advice on and assist with configuration and connection of existing and new systems, applications and data feeds into and out of system Lead and/or participate in regular departmental and project meetings and technical reviews (both internal and external) Mentor and coach team members, providing technical guidance. About You: Tertiary qualifications in one of the following disciplines (or equivalent industry experience) - Computer Science; System Engineering or Information Technology System administration or technical support experience with UNIX, particularly Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Solaris and/or HP/UX Experience with networking including a functional understanding of TCP/IP and firewalling. Previous exposure to Juniper firewall design and management. Special Requirements: You must be able to obtain and maintain TSPV level Australian Government Security Clearance. Eligible to obtain authorisation to work with ITAR controlled equipment and technology Periodical interstate and international travel will be required You will need to successfully clear a pre-employment and police check.
