About the role We are currently recruiting for a Senior Engineering Officer - Network Design to join the Network Substation Design. This role can be based from Port Macquarie, or other Essential Energy Substation Design office locations within NSW. The Senior Engineering Officer is responsible for the implementation of processes in the analysis, design, planning, execution, and technical evaluations across a broad range of technical functions relating to the completion of design, including development of new criteria and applications of knowledge and procedures for Network Design. The role will also require some management responsibility for the evaluation and design of programs of work, and validation of equipment and systems while assisting in the development of broad plans, budgets, and strategies. Complete, implement and manage the delivery of the design work packets including design, drafting and review of designs to achieve maximum commercial and technical performance as directed Complete investigations and preliminary design drawings to be included in project definition documentation as required Responsible for the coordination of engineering surveys as required to obtain relevant data to complete detailed designs Prepare design cost estimates to assist with the implementation and monitoring of strategic expenditure programs for the Network Design Group across its various functions Provide mentoring, training and development to other team members as required within Network Design About You In order to be successful in this position, you will possess: Extensive experience in a similar Substation Design engineering role in the Energy/Electrical and/or Utilities Industry Sound understanding of energy regulatory legislation. Complete knowledge and application of current overhead and underground design philosophies, procedures, Australian standards and statutory requirements including Safety in Design. Demonstrated experience in utilising analytical skills and technical knowledge to provide appropriate solutions to technical/engineering issues. About your skills Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills with the ability to manage diverse and complex issues. Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to deliver technical services in a professional and timely manner. Strong attention to detail and commitment to produce quality work. Strong time management skills with excellent planning and organisational skills, to be able to handle a varying complex workload Required Qualifications Associate Degree of Electrical Engineering (Power/Electrical) or Advanced Diploma of Electrical Engineering or demonstrated capability through past employment experience and/or relevant qualifications.
