Project Engineer — Canberra Region, Australian Capital Territory

The key duties of the position include The Role The Land Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance and Electronic Warfare (LISREW) Program is seeking an engineer to support the capability management of the Intelligence and Information Warfare (I&IW) capability. In this role, the engineer will work closely with the program systems engineer and AHQ stakeholders to develop and propose conceptual solutions to the capability managers. The primarily products being produced are the Capability Definition Documents, these being the Operational Concept Document and the Test and Evaluation Master Plan. The Engineer will work closely with the Delivery Agency to ensure the capability managers intent is realised in the planning, specification, and acquisition of the capability. The Engineer needs to have sound communication skills to effectively engage with stakeholders and solicit operational needs and considerations. Digital graphics support the communication of conceptual designs, so having graphic design skills will be beneficial. The additional payment is a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP) which enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the rate of salary otherwise payable under the Enterprise Agreement (EA) to some or all of the jobs within a critical occupation(s) or discipline within a workplace. Applicants engaged into a BDCP position must consider the following. BDCPs provide remuneration in addition to the Defence Enterprise Agreement (EA). This arrangement is subject to meeting eligibility criteria and is subject to annual review. Should your performance fall beyond requirements or the eligibility criteria not be met, your eligibility for the BDCP may be reviewed and ceased. It may also be ceased should you change positions or the requirement for the BDCP is no longer necessary, as determined by Defence. Should the BDCP be ceased you will be advised and your BDCP additional payment will cease. About our Team The LISREW I&IW team are responsible for the capability management of the I&IW capability. The I&IW team manages multiple projects at various stages of the lifecycle, which offers wide exposure to various topics and organisations. The I&IW team is primarily focused on the "Risk Mitigation and Requirement Setting" phase of the capability lifecycle. This phase takes the initial strategy and concepts and develops the capability definition through the Government investment approval process. As an Engineer, there is close collaboration with other professional disciplines, including project management and integrated logistics support in order to optimise the capability across the lifecycle. The LISREW program is within the Systems and Integration Branch of the Land Capability Division within Army Head Quarters. The LISREW I&IW team and program have extensive engagement with other programs and organisations in order to align functions, products, and activities. Our Ideal Candidate The Ideal Candidate will have a sound understanding of the processes and products involved in systems engineering and test and evaluation. The Ideal Candidate will have some skills or experience in one or more of the following topics: data analytics, data management, software engineering, security accreditation, marketing, psychology, and communications. The Ideal Candidate will be able to: Analyse existing products to identify content that applies to the I&IW capability. Investigate new technology and apply new technologies and methods to existing work processes. Provide advice and recommendations to topics based on professional knowledge, reference material, policy. Contribute to the team in accordance with direction and schedule. Engage and communicate with stakeholders to identify, respond and provide advice on issues to achieve required outcomes.
