About the Role: Mental Health, Justice Health, Alcohol and Drug Services (MHJHADS) provides health services directly and through partnerships with community organisations. The services provided range from prevention and treatment to recovery and maintenance and harm minimisation. The participation of the people who use the service, including families and carers, is encouraged in all aspects of service planning and delivery. The division works in partnership with a range of government and non-government service providers to ensure the best possible outcomes for clients. MHJHADS delivers services at a number of locations, including hospital inpatient and outpatient settings, community health centres, detention centres, other community settings including people's home. These services include: Adult Inpatient Mental Health Services (AIMHS) Adult Community Mental Health Services (ACHMS) Alcohol & Drug Services (ADS) Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) Justice Health Services Rehabilitation and Specialty Mental Health Services Adult Inpatient Mental Health Services currently incorporates the Adult Mental Health Unit (AMHU) including the Neurostimulation Therapy Suit (NTS), Ward 12B Mental Health Unit, the Mental Health Short Stay Unit (MHSSU), the Mental Health Consultation Liaison (MHCL) Team, The Adult Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit (AMHRU) and the Adult Mental Health Day Service (AMHDS) across the Emergency Department, The Canberra Hospital (TCH) and the University of Canberra Hospital (UCH). AMHU is a 40-bed inpatient facility comprised of a High Dependency Unit (HDU) and Low Dependency Unit (LDU), Ward 12B Mental Health Unit is a 10-bed low dependency unit for people experiencing moderate to severe mental illness. These units provide a contemporary evidence-based service providing high quality mental health care, guided by the principles of recovery. The service aims to provide collaborative care involving the patient, their carers and other key services. MHSSU is a 6-bed low dependency unit in the Emergency Department for people requiring extended mental health assessment and or treatment initiation. AMHRU is an inpatient rehabilitation unit whose aim is to attain and maximise independence through bio-psychosocial rehabilitation in all aspects of daily living for graduated community re-integration. The Adult Mental Health Day Service (AMHDS) is located adjacent to AMHRU at UCH, and focuses upon step-down programs, pharmacotherapy, psychological therapies and healthy living skills. North Canberra Hospital - As of 3 July 2023 Calvary Public Hospital Bruce transitioned to CHS and became North Canberra Hospital.
