We are looking for two innovative financial leaders in Financial Operations and Administration and Financial Planning The Department of Water and Environmental Regulation is the primary water resource manager and environmental regulator in Western Australia. It is headquartered in Joondalup and employs approximately 1200 staff across the state. The department's vision is to create a low-carbon Western Australia with a healthy environment and secure water resources for future generations. The department's multi-year reform agenda has been informed by Government's key strategic priorities, the findings of the Agency Capability Review drawn on experience and stakeholder input and the Vogel McFerran Review. We have immediate vacancies for two permanent positions, offering the opportunity to shape and guide the financial performance and build capability within the Department. In these high-profile roles, you'll partner with the Chief Finance Officer to represent the Department externally, supporting our strategic financial interests. Internally, you'll collaborate to deliver key strategic programs, projects, and initiatives, ensuring the Department meets its financial commitments and statutory obligations. The Assistant Director Financial Operations and Administration will provide expert financial advice, driving the strategic management of finances. This includes overseeing financial operations, policies, and statutory accounting, as well as providing high-level advice to senior management and key stakeholders. As Assistant Director Financial Planning you will lead on the delivery of financial planning, management accounting, and budgeting services, including a network of business partners to support the department's business requirements and government reforms. Who are we looking for This is an exciting time for the Strategy and Performance Portoflio and we are looking for two innovative and contemporary senior leaders to help drive the reform. We're looking for leaders who will ensure that the directorate is a valued partner empowering business areas by providing timely and accurate information, advice and insights to ensure that DWER delivers on its's strategic objectives. As a leader in the directorate we are looking for someone who is about getting results through other leaders and the broader teams. You should demonstrate highly developed expected behaviours within the identified leadership context of Leading Leaders. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a must, including the ability to present and articulate complex financial models, principles, and processes to stakeholders and customers. You should also possess high-level conceptual and analytical skills, with substantial experience in extracting, analysing, and reporting on data from financial information systems. Experience in the management, delivery, use, and support of integrated financial management systems is required, along with substantial experience in financial accounting and the preparation of annual statutory accounts under Australian Accounting Standards.
