Our team Geoscience Australia, is coordinating a national positioning capability that enables government, business and academia to access the positioning data and services that are required to solve important challenges and drive innovation. As a member of the GNSS Infrastructure and Informatics Section you will be at the forefront of developing, operating and maturing world-class positioning infrastructure across Australia, Antarctica and the Pacific. More specifically, the Section is responsible for the provision of accurate and reliable positioning data and services to support a location enabled Australia. We do this through the operation of a regional network of positioning infrastructure and digital platforms. The team shares a positive culture focused on the open sharing of knowledge, continuous improvement, being solutions focused, innovating without fear, and fostering and maintaining strong partnerships with all stakeholders. The key duties of the position include As a Cloud Engineer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining reliable, scalable, and efficient cloud infrastructure that supports the continuous delivery of GNSS data and services to government, industry, and academic stakeholders. In this role you will: Administer an Amazon Web Services based Kubernetes environment. Ensure systems and tools are kept up to date. Adhrere to security best practices to protect our systems and safeguard against unauthorised access and data breaches. Utilise tools such as Terraform and BitBuckect Pipelines to automate the deployment of platforms and applications. Instrument applications using Prometheus for metric collection - gaining insights into system performance and resource utilisation. Create monitoring dashboards and alerts in Grafana to proactively identify and address issues. Regularly review our systems to recommend improvements; optimising systems for both performance and cost efficiency. To be successful you will: Have a passion for technology and continuous improvement; and be able to work independently and proactively identify potential issues and propose solutions. Be familiar with Agile methodologies and be able to work collaboratively within a team; and actively contribute to a positive team culture. Respond flexibily to changing demands whislt maintaining sight of the end goal. Build and sustain relationships with a range of stakeholders, including other teams, peers and colleagues across the organisation. Communicate effectively with other members of the team, as well as external stakeholders, to ensure that everyone is aligned on project goals and priorities. Actively contribute to and foster an inclusive culture within the team; Adhere to the APS Values and Code of Conduct and consistently behave in an honest, ethical, and professional manner. Desired skills, knowledge, experience and/or qualifications Experience with Amazon Web Services or similar cloud platforms. Familiarity with microservices architecture and cloud computing (e.g. AWS and Kubernetes). Experience with CI/CD processes and tools (e.g. BitBucket Pipelines and Terraform).
