Key responsibilities: As Senior User Experience Designer you will: Lead user experience and user interface design of digital products that provide access to services, ease of use and high value to Queenslanders. Design user interface templates, patterns and components for customer facing web applications and mobile applications, whilst leveraging and extending the Queensland Government Design System. Reach a deep understanding of the range of customers' needs, attitudes and behaviours in relation to products. Assess research and analytics from different sources to identify the opportunities for product improvement. Refine and apply design frameworks and design principles, in so far as they help to create value. Facilitate an open, inclusive and cross-functional way of working with Product Managers, Business Analysts, Developers and other stakeholders. Liaise and engage with agency clients to gather and document design requirements. Create conceptual mock-ups of product features. Participate in and facilitate customer and stakeholder workshops and co-design sessions. Exhaust design options efficiently through benchmarking, ideation and sketching. Present design options whilst providing rationale and evidence. Produce low and high-fidelity prototypes using the Design System. Organise, plan, moderate and report on user testing and observe and respond to user testing organised by others. Prepare and handover developable specification documentation and review implementation of designs for defects. Communicate, collaborate and document in accordance with best practice design operations in an agile product development team. Ensure projects meet the required visual and digital style guidelines including the Queensland Government Corporate Identity guidelines, the Consistent User Experience website guidelines, accessibility requirements and copyright and creative commons. Contribute to the Design System, community of practice groups and help coach and mentor the business and junior designers on best practice user experience and user interface design. The role reports to the Manager, Customer Experience and Service Design in the Design and Capability team within Queensland Government Customer and Digital Group. Key Capabilities: Demonstrated experience in designing digital products with high numbers of daily active users as part of an agile software development team. Demonstrated skill in designing simple and valuable interactions from requirements that are sometimes complex or initially ambiguous. Advanced skills in tools such as Figma, Miro and Adobe CC. Experience designing accessible and inclusive products (e.g. WCAG compliant). Ideally experience in one or more of: Design systems User testing Mobile application design HTML, CSS & JS Illustration UX Writing Candidates must submit a portfolio of work as part of the application, as stipulated the PD Applications will remain current for 12 months.
