Design Assistant — Melbourne, Melbourne Region

An Australian owned fashion boutique retailer are currently looking for a Design Assistant to join their team The Design Assistant works under the direction of the Senior Design Manager to provide support to the Design team. A key element of this role requires accuracy and attention to detail, working within the critical timeline at all times. The Design Assistant has the opportunity to learn from and contribute to creative designs under the guidance of the Senior Designers. Responsibilities: Preparation of artwork for printing. Liaising with suppliers. Follow up outstanding items and ensure all information is up to date. Maintain and update the Tracker. Prepare and maintain story boards, ensuring accurate information updates and prompt distribution to relevant staff. Create, complete and deliver artwork packs.ensuring all stakeholders are updated. Liaise with Production for Harmony and BLIP checks and updates. Liaise with Marketing regarding photo shoot and look book requirements. Fabrics and trims sourcing. Assist in preparation of technical sketches for ranging and product specifications as required. Assist in the set up of product specification sheets as required. Assist in trend and competitor research. Assist in mood board creations as required. Participate in Design meetings to brainstorm ideas and concepts. Skills: Relevant qualifications in fashion and/or design related discipline. 2 year/s experience in a similar role. Understanding of basic retail maths. Strong interpersonal and team collaboration skills. High attention to detail, ensuring accuracy at all times. Excellent time management/organisational skills. Excellent verbal & written communication skills. Intermediate Microsoft Office skills. Intermediate Illustrator and Photoshop skills.
