Senior Engineer / Engineer, Supplier Quality Engineering — Sydney Region, New South Wales

Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE) works across ResMed and our suppliers to continuously improve performance, implement process controls and develop quality assurance plans. These activities are all aimed at protecting and boosting ResMed’s ability to meet and exceed its Quality, Delivery and Cost targets.  This role works across ResMed and our suppliers to ensure that internal and supplier processes deliver quality products and services to ResMed and to ensure ResMed has a consistent face and approach with our supply chain at an Engineering level. Let’s talk about Responsibilities Work with cross functional teams to lead and resolve supplier quality issues in a timely and systematic fashion. Identify supplier related problems and opportunities. Perform problem solving, root-cause investigation and liaise with Suppliers and Supplier Development Engineer to improve supplier performance. Works with suppliers to refine and enhance products and processes by applying continuous improvement and key lean manufacturing/production principles and techniques to assure quality of goods and services provided. Educates and support suppliers in their use of various quality prevention tools to ensure defect free products. Timely communication of issues that affect supplier quality and delivery capability to the relevant stakeholders across the organization. Support supplier audit activities and assess process capability as required. Drive and manage supplier initiated process change control. Ensure thorough knowledge of ResMed’s Quality system to work within established policies and procedures, compliance with GMP, regulatory requirements and other business systems. Develop Engineering skills in order to lead problem solving activities for the technologies being used in ResMed’s products. Provide technical leadership, support and guidance to Supplier Quality Engineers Continually develop industry knowledge to assist in development and sharing of best practice Maintain lessons learned from various investigations to assist in development and sharing of best practice. Other duties as assigned and required. Let’s talk about Qualifications and Experience Supplier manufacturing process knowledge and understanding of various manufacturing processes. Problem solving methods & tools as well as quality process knowledge, including statistics (A3, 8D, KT Problem Solving, DMAIC, Lean Six Sigma and SPC etc.). Strong negotiation skills, communication skills & business acumen. Independent and results-driven Able to manage multiple projects / tasks at once, while prioritising, leading and managing them to achieve optimal quality, delivery and cost outcomes. Detailed ResMed product design, function, assembly and test knowledge. This position will require ability to travel for up to 25% of time. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Required: Degree qualification in Engineering or Science with minimum 2 to 5 years’ experience. Experience in engineering processes and tools in manufacturing environments. Preferred: Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering Training & experience in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Kepner-Tregoe and APQP tools & methodologies. Experience in operating within highly regulated industry – preferably medical device industry.
