Wood is recruiting for a Senior Piping Engineer to join our Minerals & Metals business based in Brisbane, Queensland. This is opportunity is available on either a permanent or contract basis. For over 60 years, from study through start-up, at pace and at scale, we have been advancing the world's largest and most technically challenging mining projects across key commodities: Lithium Nickel / Cobalt Copper Gold Rare Earths Iron Ore Platinum Group Metals (PGMs) Reporting to the Piping Discipline Manager and working in support of a long-term Engineering Service Contract, you will create delivery excellence across the assigned project. You will be responsible for: Ensure the quality of deliverables is in line with the relevant codes and standards, needs of the customer, and regulatory authorities Prepare, review and approve piping technical specifications and piping material specifications Prepare and approve datasheets for valves and special piping items Requisition piping components, provide technical evaluation and review of vendor documentation Perform piping engineering detail design calculations Develop piping and pipe support standard detail drawings Perform and check pipe stress analysis and pipe support design Prepare and development of project-specific procedures Provide input into the P&IDs and participate in HAZOP reviews Provide technical support to the onsite construction teams, projects department, and estimating department Provide input to the proposal and budget estimates At Wood you will join an inclusive and diverse global community of inquisitive minds and recognized industry innovators, partnering to create new possibilities. You will be an Australian citizen or hold Permanent Residency (PR) and able to work lawfully in Australia. Ideally you will be a suitably qualified engineer with a Mechanical Engineering degree from a recognized institution and have a minimum of 7 years of proven experience within the mining and minerals sector. In addition, you will have: Sound technical knowledge of piping engineering, including calculations, specifications, material and valve selection, P&ID development, and requisitioning of piping components Good understanding of procedures and workflows related to the piping discipline Well-developed computer skills and knowledge of databases, spreadsheets, and engineering programs Pipe stressing capability and experience with Caesar II, AutoPIPE, and other relevant computer pipe stress software packages are desirable What will set you apart will be your understanding of the Minerals & Metals processing sector.
