Our team The Digital Science Platforms Section within the Enterprise Data and Digital branch delivers specialist geospatial information and software services that will enable Geoscience Australia to create and deliver its digital science data according to current best practice. The section consults with internal and external research, government, and industry partners, to establish collaborative frameworks, products and scientific system architectures and models within Geoscience Australia and across broader national and international communities of practice. The section innovates, builds, and maintains tools, systems, processes, and governance that enable digital data product creation, management, and delivery. Our team provides enterprise-wide geospatial platforms and services for internal and external clients (both propriety and open source). The team provide advice on the current geospatial landscape and provides direction of geospatial products into the future. The team are also responsible for the development, management, and implementation of cloud standards in collaboration with business owners across the organisation. The key duties of the position include The Cloud Dev Ops Engineer is responsible for the development and implementation of enterprise tools to help developers deploy on the cloud easily and securely and be able to monitor their systems. The role also involves maintenance and administration of enterprise GIS platforms, systems and services to Geoscience Australia and its stakeholders. You'll help us continually improve GA's cloud environments and code pipelines, making our services scalable, reliable, responsive, and secure. In this role you will: Design, implement and manage AWS & Azure cloud solutions to meet business requirements. Collaborate with cross functional teams to develop and implement CI/CD pipelines for efficient deployment processes and infrastructure solutions on AWS &/or Azure environments. Provide technical expertise and support to ensure the reliability, security and scalability of cloud and GIS infrastructure. Work with ICT specialists to understand, promote and reuse enterprise ICT platforms, Spatial and Cloud platforms, systems, and services. To be successful in the role you will: Perform routine system administration activities, building, delivering, and managing cloud environments using AWS & Azure platforms. Identify problems and assess their significance; take appropriate action to resolve them; think laterally; be innovative; identify and implement improved work practices. Support collaborative projects, providing architectural advice on cloud-based infrastructure as a service. Work with Geospatial Solutions Architect to contribute to capacity planning and future cloud and infrastructure design. Provide technical expertise and support to ensure the reliability, security and scalability of cloud and GIS infrastructure. Required skills, knowledge, experience and/or qualifications Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience. Best practice in AWS &/or Azure system and operation Proven experience working with cloud technologies and Microsoft stack. Hands on experience using infrastructure as a code implementing CI/CD pipelines and automation tools. Demonstrated experience in modern development practices (Agile, Lean, DevOps) methodologies and tools (Jira, Bitbucket, GitHub) Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Desirable: Experience in the configuration and administration of the GIS software and tools in a multi-deployment environment ESRI GIS and FME (cloud, server, desktop) software and user workflows.
