Let’s be honest – working as a Project Engineer on site for a tier 1 builder is hard graft. You are doing minimum 10 hour days and at least 1 Saturday every fortnight. You get paid well but don’t have any time to spend it and enjoy it. The climb up the career ladder is a slow one – there are a tonne of PE’s and SPE’s ahead of you so your chance to being a PM is a long way off. Luckily for you this role is going to fix these problems straight away. NO MORE SATURDAY work for a start and within a year of working here you will be given the chance as a PM to run your own smaller projects. You will be working with PM’s and SM’s who have either worked for Lend Lease or Mirvac before so it’s a tier 1 setup but just within a smaller company. Which means your route to Project Management is a clear one. Initially you’d work with a SPM who will upskill you and as their first PE hire there is no competition of who will be the next PM – it’s going to be you. Starting salary is within the $150-$200k package range and a company vehicle is also on the table if you are the right guy for the team with the right experience. You’d work on small new builds and FO’s in the $500k - $17million range and it’s across industrial, child care centres and the commercial sectors so the work is varied. You’ve delivered new build projects in Australia before and don’t mind delivering smaller fit out and new build projects (Sub $20million) You’ve got a driving licence and don’t mind a bit of travel – some of the upcoming projects may be in the Newcastle area.
