Language Teacher - Korean — Laverton, Wyndham Area

The key duties of the position include The Role The APS 5 Korean Language Teacher will prepare, develop and deliver Korean language lessons for up to 20 hours of lessons per week. Work productively as part of a specialised language team consisting of Australian Public Servants and contractors Develop Korean language assessment materials Monitor the academic progress of students and provide timely and actionable individual feedback Review and implement continual improvement to course materials and assessments Provide timely and accurate advice and guidance to the APS 6 Senior Language Teacher Assist in the preparation and conduct of In-Country Training programs for students including travel to Korea for student assessment Identify and research teaching methodology improvement utilising new technologies Other duties in line with the APS5 Standard as directed About our Team The Korean Language Department is responsible for the syllabus design, material development and delivery of the Korean language courses to ADF personnel. The Korean Language Department have a mindset of continuous improvement utilising new technologies to improve the language delivery experience for students. The Defence Force School of Languages (DFSL) delivers language and cultural training to select Australian Defence Force personnel. The school provides over 50 courses across 18 languages with graduates applying their language skills seamlessly in communities across the globe to enhance Defence capability. Though this position is located in Laverton Victoria, DFSL also has a detachment in Canberra. There are currently approximately 100 ADF, APS and contracted staff and over 150 military students at any one time. As a school of foreign languages, DFSL is extremely culturally diverse. Our Ideal Candidate Have a demonstrated high level of knowledge of Korean language Have demonstrated English language competency and proficiency at the academic level. Have a demonstrated sound knowledge of different approaches to language teaching and embracing new technologies Have Korean teaching experience (preferable in an adult learning environment) Have demonstrated experience in syllabus design and material development Have a demonstrated applied knowledge of different approaches to language teaching Have demonstrated computer literacy, especially word-processing
