Collar are seeking a degree qualified Project Engineer with experience within the Power and Energy sector within Australia. Collar are recruiting for a Project Engineer to work with a global renewable energy leader based in Perth. The role of a Project Engineer in managing engineering and design activities for turn-key Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) is critical for ensuring the successful delivery of such projects. Responsibilities: Management and Submission of Engineering Contract Deliverables: Oversee the preparation, review, and submission of all engineering-related contract deliverables to ensure compliance with contractual requirements and deadlines. Fit-for-Purpose Procurement of Battery Storage Equipment: Lead the procurement process for all project battery storage equipment, ensuring that selected equipment meets project specifications, performance requirements, and budget constraints. Management of BESS Civil Design and Noise Assessment: Coordinate and manage the civil design aspects of the BESS project, including noise assessments, to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and project objectives. Provide support to project partners as necessary to ensure alignment with civil design requirements. Management of Engineering Documentation: Oversee the management of engineering-related documentation throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations. Provide support to project partners in preparing documentation such as approvals, operation manuals, and reports. Battery Control System Installation Management: Manage the installation of the battery control system, ensuring proper integration with other project components and compliance with technical specifications and safety standards. Provide support to project partners for relevant civil and electrical installation works related to the battery control system. Commissioning Support: Assist the Commissioning Manager and project partners in planning and executing relevant commissioning activities for the BESS project, ensuring proper functionality and performance of all systems. Provide technical expertise and support as needed during the commissioning phase. Qualifications and Experience: Degree in Electrical Engineering or Similar: A postgraduate qualification in electrical engineering or a related field provides a strong foundation for understanding complex power systems and engineering principles. 5-10 Years of Experience in Power Plant/Substation Design or Commissioning: Extensive experience in designing or commissioning power plants or substations demonstrates a deep understanding of power systems and relevant industry practices. Experience in On-Field Activities on MW-Sized Power Plants: Direct experience with on-field activities, particularly on MW-sized power plants, indicates practical knowledge of installation, operation, and maintenance challenges. Familiarity with Australian Electrical Design Codes and Standards: Proficiency in Australian electrical design codes, including relevant standards and regulations, is essential for ensuring compliance and safety in project design and execution. Knowledge of National Electricity Rules and Generator Performance Standards: Understanding regulatory frameworks such as the National Electricity Rules and Generator Performance Standards is crucial for navigating legal requirements and ensuring grid compliance. Experience with Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) and Network Service Providers (NSPs): Previous involvement with AEMO and NSPs demonstrates familiarity with Australia's energy market dynamics and regulatory processes. Skills and Personal Attributes: Interpersonal and Communication Skills : Strong interpersonal and communication abilities are essential for effectively liaising with internal teams, external stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
