Railway Signalling Electrician career opportunity. Entry level and experienced positions available What Queensland Rail has to offer: Permanent full-time position 0600-1600 four days per week. Pay scale ET2.1 – ET3.2, Base salary of approx. $85,000 - $105,000. Actual earning range with penalties, allowances and overtime is approx. $120,000 - $180,000. About the team: Our SEQ Network Assets business delivers infrastructure services, construction, maintenance, asset management and development. This position sits within the Signalling Asset Renewals (SAR) team based at our Qantas Drive Multi User Depot located in the Brisbane Airport precinct. The team is responsible for replacing and upgrading signalling assets across the entire QR network including regional areas. This work is a combination of workshop fabrication, on-site installation and commissioning (testing and certification). About the role: Working in teams under supervision of qualified Signal Electricians SAR electricians will install test and commission signalling equipment such as train detection, level crossings, points machines, coloured light signals and associated control circuitry. The electrical systems involved vary form 415V floating supplies to ELV d.c control circuits. Work can range from hauling underground cable to assembling computer/processer based interlocking devices. Commissionings usually occur during scheduled weekend shutdowns. SAR electricians need to be available for overtime on weekends up to twice a month. We deliver projects in SEQ and regional areas, so SAR electricians need to be able to travel away from home for 10 day periods. For further information please click here to view the Position Description We are looking for: Motivated and enthusiastic electricians looking to establish a career in the Railway Signalling industry. Must have a Queensland electrical fitter mechanics licence and a drivers licence. Railway Signalling qualifications are desirable but not essential as training is provided. Ability to demonstrate a commitment to workplace safety. Good communication skills and a proactive attitude. Experience with installation and fault rectification of electrical equipment particularly in an industrial setting is desirable. The successful applicant must be available for weekend overtime shifts and regional travel of 10-day duration on a regular basis. FAQ: Is travel on paid work time? Yes, all travel to undertake regional works occurs during paid work time, with flights and self-contained accommodation p rovided (unless unavailable). Travel allowance is provided to reimburse you for meals and incidentals. Are uniforms supplied? Yes, uniforms including boots and PPE are supplied and replaced when needed. Do I need a Cert IV Electrical Railway Signalling? This qualification is not a pre-employment requirement. When training spots are available you will be enrolled to complete this qualification during paid work time. Completion of competencies of the qualification partially contribute to pay scale progression . Do I need my own tools? Basic hands tools only. A tool allowance is provided to upkeep your tools, while powered and specialised tools are provided . How many weeks annual leave? Standard 4 weeks accrued per year. What are the work hours? 76 ordinary hours per fortnight usually 0600-1600 Mon-Thu or Tue-Fri. Occasionally you may be required to work outside these times and relevant penalty rates apply.
