The Manager Design Policy provides collaborative leadership and expert, strategic advice and analysis across design and planning to support government policies on built form and urban design issues relevant to urban renewal, planned precincts and major infrastructure projects. The Manager Design Policy is a full-time permanent appointment, however consideration may be given to applicants seeking part-time opportunities. This process may be used to fill future similar permanent or fixed-term positions that may arise across the WA public sector in the next 12 months from the initial date of appointment. This position is available for immediate filling. To be successful in this role, you need to demonstrate: Tertiary degree qualification relevant to one of the following: architecture; landscape architecture; urban design; urban and regional planning and/or development. Substantial relevant experience in practice, strategic leadership and providing advice across a range of circumstances including policy, education and research, drawing upon built environment and urban design policies and practices. Demonstrated understanding and experience in WA legislation and policies governing land use planning, good design, environmental assessment and environmental regulation. Highly developed project management, research, conceptual and analytical skills, demonstrated in the resolution of complex issues in a challenging environment. Highly developed skills in development of evidence-based strategic policy, built form and design-led planning frameworks, guidelines and policy resources to support the delivery of an integrated and high quality built environment.
