Position Information Alexandria Park Community School is a Kindergarten to Year 12 community school. Over the past five years, enrolment has significantly increased, with enrolments surpassing 1200 in 2023. Approximately 42% of students are from a non-English speaking background and 18% are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students. The school has an Opportunity Class in Year 5 and Year 6 and a Selective Stream in Year 7 to Year 10. In 2023 an Inclusive Education Unit supporting students with a range of learning support needs was opened in the primary school. We have strong and authentic links with the community. Our families are supportive and engaged in all aspects of the school. Our school receives significant support from Cultural organisations. Evidence from the situational analysis reflects Alexandria Park Community School's long-term, well established commitment to collaboration, professional learning, student wellbeing and positive relationships. It also demonstrates teachers' ongoing capacity to build high expectations for students and to develop and implement quality programs to improve student learning. The analysis showed that some areas for growth include innovative improvement measures to ensure ongoing improvement in literacy and numeracy for all students, (no matter their starting point), continuity of learning from Kindergarten to Year 12, and continuing to build on and celebrate our excellent achievements in a variety of areas. Selection Criteria Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria  Approval to teach and demonstrated success in teaching PDHPE Years 7-12 with a commitment to achieving strong stage 6 practices for student improvement. Commitment to the initiation and sustained momentum of a strong sporting culture in the APCS community. Demonstrating the ability to lead and manage a range of opportunities to maximise impact in student learning, fostering successful school sport programs and health initiatives.  Demonstrated success in working collaboratively  as an effective head teacher member of the PDHPE faculty and member of the school executive team to motivate and lead staff through curriculum reform, build quality teaching practice and lead initiatives that address whole school strategic priorities.   General Selection Criteria Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams  Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents  Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy Conditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement.
