Generalist Teacher (Primary 3-6) - Maidstone — West Footscray, Maribyrnong Area

MacKillop Education, located in Maidstone, is a Special Assistance School (Grades 3-6) that caters to children and young people who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from mainstream education. The students at MacKillop have a history and/or ongoing experience of trauma, and their needs are complex and diverse. Our approach is neuro-affirming and trauma-informed. About the role: Working with a highly skilled team, the Generalist Teacher will collaborate to develop and deliver effective and engaging evidence-based learning programs suited to our students' diverse needs, while meeting the requirements of the Victorian Curriculum. This may include classroom teaching and/or 1:1 intensive student support as required. Class sizes are capped at eight students, with a teacher and Education Support worker in each class. Experience working with vulnerable children or young people who present with social, emotional, and/or cognitive differences is preferred. We currently have a Permanent Full-time opportunity available based in Maidstone, VIC within our MacKillop Education Program (part-time may be considered). Key Selection Criteria: To be successful in this role, you will have: A four-year teaching qualification or equivalent and eligibility for Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration Demonstrated understanding of and experience of implementing evidence-based teaching practices, informed by the Victorian Curriculum Experience in the design, delivery and assessment of programs that cater for the diverse and complex needs of individual learners, and engage students who have a range of learning difficulties and challenging behaviours Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively and creatively with colleagues to improve the quality of programs and enhance student outcomes Please address the full Key Selection Criteria outlined in the Position Description as part of your application.
