Your New Career This is an exciting opportunity for a student planner to gain experience in our Statutory Planning Team. The Surf Coast Planning Scheme is diverse, and responsive to the variety of land uses that the Shire has to offer. Working in a flexible arrangement around your studies, you will gain experience in dealing with and assisting statutory planners with a range of planning applications and approvals. You will also have a customer focused approach to assist the community with general planning enquiries through front counter and telephone service. About you We are currently looking for a student planner with a drive to actively learn and participate in the statutory planning system at the Surf Coast Shire. You will have a customer focused approach and administrative skills to assist local community members and the statutory planning team. Mandatory Requirements (Skills & Experience) Currently enrolled and studying a tertiary qualification in planning, or related discipline. Ability to learn new processes and procedures of a local government planning department. Ability to work as an effective team member and contribute to a positive team culture. Ability to provide a customer service focus to the work. You have the permanent right to live and work in Australia. A current Working With Children Check Police Check results that are suitable for this position (will be arranged by Surf Coast Shire Council). A complete international criminal history check is required if the person has worked or lived overseas for any period of time OR a complete national criminal history check is required if the person has only ever worked in Australia.
