Design Assistant — Melbourne, Melbourne Region

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Design Assistant to join a dynamic team at Seed Heritage. This role will assist throughout the ranging & product development, buying and fitting process by supporting the Designer/Buyer for Women's Footwear, Belts & Hosiery. THE ROLE: Set up tech pack files in advance of season. Assist with the sketching of stylised and technical products in Adobe Illustrator, set up and maintain season-to-date sketch boards. Work through and assist in briefing tech packs as required and chase proto samples Manage supplier Lab-Dip requests and pass DHL over to Administration Assistant for sending. Manage style files including initial set-up and maintenance Work in D-365 as needed to set up product lifecycle information for each style and raise orders if required. Sketch new styles that are added in after buy meetings and throughout the season Prepare for range meetings and buy meetings, ensure samples, image references and mood board are ready as well as checking style files for correct information. Participate in weekly production meetings with relevant information on hand. Liaise with Designer/Buyer on costs, approvals, and comments to ensure company quality and standard is met. Facilitate approval of care instructions and swing tickets with Administration Assistant. Organise samples in a safe way – maintain and pack up samples for sample sale and maintain library of previous range samples. On-site in St Kilda Rd offices 5 days per week. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE: 1-2 years’ experience in a Design or Buying Assistant role or similar Prior Footwear experience (preferred) Proficient in Adobe Suite, particularly Illustrator and Photoshop A relevant tertiary or equivalent qualification Basic to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word & Excel) Demonstrated hand sketching ability. Understanding of graphic textile print also desirable. Ability to work in fast paced environment and manage time effectively. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to work well under pressure.
