Are you a legal practitioner looking for an opportunity to go in-house within the mining sector? Bis is currently seeking an in-house Legal Counsel, to join our high-performing national Legal team. Reporting to the General Counsel, you will be responsible for providing legal advice in a practical and commercially focused way to mining services contracts (including tenders), commercial contracts, dispute resolution, document control and legal compliance. This role is a full-time permanent contract, and it will be based in our Newcastle office. There are opportunities to travel to and from our operations across Australia. Responsibilities: Working with the commercial team to review contract tenders to analyse areas of risk and ways to mitigate them; Proactive management of legal issues and transaction execution; Advising the business on the resolution of commercial disputes; Negotiating and drafting commercial contracts; Supporting the procurement, operations and finance teams across Australia; Contract management; Document management; Assist in all legal administrative duties; and Actively promote and demonstrate commitment to Zero Harm. About You Degree qualified in Law, with current practising certificate desirable; 1 - 5 years’ experience in a similar role within the resources sector; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Effective at building and maintaining trusted relationships with stakeholders at all levels; and Ability to think commercially and propose pragmatic solutions to managing risks.
