The key duties of the position include The Role The Defence Enterprise ServiceNow Platform (DESP) team support the continued development of the ServiceNow capability, the DESP team is seeking a Junior Software Engineer to support the build and enhancement of the ServiceNow platform. In this role, the engineer will work closely with senior ServiceNow developers, industry experts and stakeholders to design, develop, and implement business solutions within the ServiceNow platform. Additionally, the Junior Software Engineer (ServiceNow Application Developer) will work with various stakeholders within Defence to ensure the correct approval and endorsement for the platform design and build of the new ServiceNow capability through the Defence Digital Group (DDG) and Joint Command Group (JCG) processes. About our Team The Defence Enterprise ServiceNow Platform (DESP) is leading the implementation of the Enterprise ServiceNow Platform - the capability sets out to modernise and streamline operations within the Defence environment. As a core initiative, the ServiceNow Platform is poised to become a critical capability within the Defence environment, providing a foundational infrastructure to support the intricate and multifaceted business operations spanning various Defence domains. DESP is responsible for implementing the ServiceNow platform, platform enhancements, and operational business processes and ensuring its success through diligent oversight and proactive management. DESP currently has a dual mandate of engineering responsibilities and platform enhancement services. The engineering aspect of DESP involves meticulously overseeing the technical facets of the ServiceNow Platform, encompassing tasks such as platform design, infrastructure setup, release and change, configuration, and optimising the ServiceNow platform performance, reliability, and security. Our Ideal Candidate Within the ICT Solutions Development function, an ICT Software Engineer is accountable under routine direction to perform and achieve moderately complex ICT software engineering work within an integrated workforce. They are accountable to have and maintain a well-developed understanding of relevant legislative and policy requirements. They will be accountable for organising their workflow and making independent decisions. They will interpret and provide advice within the ICT solutions development function area based on legislation, policy and procedures. They will undertake specialist, technical, research and analysis, conduct reviews, assessment, investigations and perform administrative support work to achieve results. They will coordinate and contribute to the work of a team consistent to a work plan and provide advice and assistance on methods of task completion to team members. They will be required to engage and communicate with stakeholders to identify, respond and provide advice on issues to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes.
