About the role: The Cybercrime Division is a critical division within Crime Command Victoria Police. The IT team provides support for multiple squads, and teams both onsite and multiple regional centres. The Computer Network Administrator position reports to the Senior IT Administrator/IT Manager and works closely with the Cybercrime Squad and JACET. They are responsible for providing multifaceted support, undertake project work and specifically working alongside the Senior IT Administrator to design, develop, build, and maintain the server, network (LAN and WAN), and desktop infrastructure. This role requires strong technical skills with the ability to work in an agile, dynamic, and secure work environment. You will have the ability to perform under pressure to deliver complex solutions within tight deadlines and budgets. Your duties will include: Responsible for the availability of IT infrastructure (Servers/Routers/Firewalls/Storage), Network Design, Architecture, and Security, including managing the resolution of complex issues. Manage and enforce IT security and monitoring of the network to Victoria Police IMSSD standards. Responsible for daily administration of core systems that includes, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, databases and business-critical systems. Monitor data-centre health using existing management tools, and respond to hardware issues as they arise; build, test, and maintain new servers when needed Provide multifaceted technical support Develop and maintain contemporary relationships with vendors of ICT services, commercial and industry standards. Develop and maintain technical documentation Produce technical and nontechnical reports for managers and executives Take responsibility for projects and solutions within the larger business initiative Undertake complex procurement processes liaising with multiple teams and stakeholders Support mixed mode environment comprising of Windows, IOS and Linux systems and a combination of standalone and virtualized appliances Develop new solutions in line with technological advancements such as cloud technology. As the successful applicant, you will have: Demonstrated and proven experience working in a similar role for five (5) years or more. Demonstrated knowledge in vendor products such as Cisco, FortiGate, Microsoft desktop and server products, VMWare and Hyper-V virtualization, Dell, or similar NAS/SAN storage systems and VEEAM Backup and DR systems. A proven ability to work well within a dynamic and busy team environment of sworn and public service employees Knowledge of ITIL framework and customer services skills Knowledge of programming and/or scripting languages Highly developed conceptual, analytical, and written/oral communication skills Experience in the development and dissemination of technical but highly classified information Highly developed ability to troubleshoot complex problems, identify trends, anticipate problems, and recommend actionable solutions. Tertiary qualifications in related fields of ICT and industry qualifications such as CCNA, MCSE and Cyber Security are highly desirable. Possess a current Victorian Driver Licence and hold or qualify for a White Class Driver Authority within three (3) months.
