Our team Join the dedicated team at the National Location Information Branch within Geoscience Australia, where we are at the forefront of ensuring Australia's national location information is accessible, trusted, reliable, interoperable, relevant, and sustainably managed. As part of this team, you will contribute to the Digital Atlas of Australia project, one of three major location-based initiatives that are transforming how we interact with and understand geographic data. The Digital Atlas of Australia project brings together, curates and connects trusted national datasets from across government into an interactive, secure, and easy-to-use online platform. Anyone, anywhere can explore, analyse and visualise data on Australia's geography, people, economy and environment. The key duties of the position include As a GIS Administrator, you will play a crucial role in supporting the maintenance and enhancement of our cloud-based Esri GIS infrastructure to meet the diverse needs of the Digital Atlas Australia project. The Digital Atlas of Australia is based on configurations of ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online aligned with evolving business needs. Your expertise will be instrumental in supporting the reliability, scalability, and performance of our enterprise GIS systems. The primary responsibility of this role includes; System Monitoring and Optimisation: Monitor system performance, resource utilisation, and service availability. Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, optimise system configurations, and implement scalability measures as needed. Software Updates and Upgrades: Research, evaluate, and apply software updates, patches, and service packs for Esri ArcGIS Enterprise software. Plan and coordinate system upgrades and migrations to newer versions of the software. User Support: Provide technical support to GIS users, troubleshoot issues, and resolve system-related problems. Assist users in accessing and utilising GIS applications, web maps, and geospatial services. Security and Access Control: Implement security measures and access controls to protect sensitive GIS data. Configure user authentication, authorisation, and role-based access controls within the Esri ArcGIS Enterprise environment. Documentation and Training: Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, and best practices. Develop and deliver training materials and sessions to educate users on GIS technology and best practices. To be successful in the role you will have: In-depth expertise in administering cloud based Esri Enterprise environments, including configuration, maintenance, and optimisation. Strong technical skills in working with location information, including geospatial services, data management, and processing tools. Knowledge of enterprise-level GIS architectures, high availability configurations, and disaster recovery planning Understanding of GIS principles, spatial analysis, and cartography and knowledge of relevant industries and applications of GIS. Possess advanced analytical skills essential for evaluating systems and processes. Have exceptional problem-solving skills to arrive at system solutions and project improvements. Required skills, knowledge, experience and/or qualifications Our ideal applicant will have a combination of technical skills, strategic thinking and effective communication abilities: Extensive proficiency in GIS software and tools in particular Esri Web GIS, FME and Microsoft Azure/ Esri certifications (Esri Certified Enterprise System Design Associate) are a plus.
